Pica Dry Carbide Scriber Needle, Ø2.8 x 30 mm - 55804

Pica 55804 is a carbide scriber needle that goes into the Pica Dry automatic pencil in place of a graphite lead. This turns the pencil you normally mark with in graphite into a scriber for precise scribing on metal. The needle is 2.8 mm in diameter and 30 mm long and comes in a self-service pack.

A carbide needle that does not wear out

According to the manufacturer the needle is made of tungsten carbide and is extremely robust - it does not wear out even after long periods of use. Pica recommends it for scribing metal surfaces where a very precise and long-lasting marking is needed. Pica describes the combination of a Pica Dry and such a needle as "the ultimate upgrade" for anyone working with metal.

Compatibility with the Pica Dry

The needle is an accessory for the Pica Dry Longlife Automatic Pencil (article 3030) - Pica's automatic pencil that takes 2.8 mm leads. To protect the pencil mechanism and keep it intact in the long term, the manufacturer stresses that the metal needle must be inserted from behind. The Pica Dry itself has a push mechanism feeding through a stainless steel tube, a holster with a clip for one-hand operation and dust and moisture protection.

Tube for safe storage

The needle comes in a practical plastic tube in which the pointed metal tip is stored safely when not in use.

Set with pencil

If you do not have a Pica Dry yet, the manufacturer also offers the same needle in the Pica Dry Metal Set (30800) - a Pica Dry automatic pencil with a grey cap, a standard 2B graphite lead and a scriber needle in a tube. The single needle 55804 is suitable as a spare or as an addition to a Pica Dry you already own.
