Pica Classic 520 Permanent Marker, Black, Round tip 1-4 mm - 520/46

Pica Classic 520/46 is a permanent marker with black alcohol-based ink and a round tip that draws a 1-4 mm line. The manufacturer Pica-Marker offers it for permanent marking on almost all surfaces, and its product sheet recommends it to glaziers, locksmiths, mechanics and plumbing installers. The photo shows the marker with and without its cap.

Dry Safe ink

According to the manufacturer the marking becomes waterproof and smudge-proof after about 5 seconds. The Dry Safe ink has a higher opacity, and the marker can be left uncapped for up to 48 hours without drying out. The ink is free from xylene and toluene.

Round or wedge tip

The range comes with two tip shapes, sharing the same ink and the same colours. Classic 520 has a round tip and a 1-4 mm line, while Classic 521 has a wedge tip and a 2-6 mm line. This page is for the round tip version. The same colour with the other tip is article 521/46.

Which surfaces it marks

Pica lists metal, wood, plastic, tiles, glass, paper, rubber and brick as suitable. In its earlier product sheet the manufacturer rates the marker as ideal for metal, processed wood, plastic and glass, suitable for tiles and ceramics, and acceptable on dry rubber, stone and concrete, dry raw wood and leather. On those last materials it is worth testing on an inconspicuous spot first.

Colours and packs

Pica Classic 520 and 521 are made in four colours: black (/46), red (/40), green (/36) and blue (/41). This page is for the black marker 520/46. The manufacturer supplies the markers in boxes of 10, and some of them also on a self-service blister card. The range also includes the 520/04 set of four round-tip markers - red, blue, black and white.
