Bosch Hacksaw Blades 1600A03A7Z, 300 mm, 3 pcs, 32 TPI The Bosch 1600A03A7Z is a pack of 3 hand hacksaw blades, 300 mm long with 32 teeth per inch. The blades are bi-metal - an HSS tooth welded to an HCS body - with a hardness of HRC 62-68. The blade tension stated by the manufacturer is 1150 N. Bi-metal: hard tooth, flexible body The bi-metal blade settles the old compromise in hacksaw blades. The tooth is high-speed HSS steel, which takes the heat and the wear of cutting steel; the body is the tougher carbon HCS steel, which bends instead of breaking. The two are joined by a weld along the whole length. The result is a blade that does not crack when it is slightly twisted in the cut - the commonest reason a one-piece blade fails long before its teeth are blunt. The 32 TPI pitch 32 teeth per inch is the fine pitch: for thin-walled tube, sheet, section and any thin material where a coarser tooth would snag and strip. The rule is that at least three teeth should be in contact with the material at all times. Which saw they fit Three hundred millimetres is the standard hand hacksaw length - the size that fits any common frame and gives a full cutting stroke. The blades mount in a standard hacksaw frame through the holes at each end and are tensioned with the frame's wing nut. Tension matters: a slack blade twists in the cut and breaks long before it goes blunt. Applications Cutting steel and copper pipe, sections, sheet, threaded rod, bolts, aluminium and plastic - hand cutting in installation, assembly and repair work. A pack of three is about what one site job consumes. Technical specifications Part number1600A03A7Z EAN4059952737485 Length300 mm Number of teeth32 TPI MaterialBi-Metal, HSS + HCS HardnessHRC 62-68 Blade tension1150 N Packaging typepaper / cardboard / corrugated board, packaging with Euro hole Pack quantity3 pcs ManufacturerBosch Professional Questions and Answers How many blades are in the pack? Three. Bosch states a pack quantity of 3 pcs for part number 1600A03A7Z. What does bi-metal mean? The tooth is high-speed HSS steel and the body is carbon HCS steel, the two joined by a weld. The tooth takes the wear while the body bends instead of cracking in the cut. What material is 32 TPI for? At 32 teeth per inch the blade is for thin-walled tube, sheet and thin sections. The rule is that at least three teeth should be in contact with the material at all times. Do they fit any hacksaw? The blades are 300 mm long with a hole at each end - the standard form for hand hacksaw frames of that size. Check the pin spacing quoted for your frame before ordering. What is the hardness? Bosch states HRC 62-68 for these blades. That is the usual range for bi-metal hacksaw blades - hard enough to cut steel without the teeth going blunt quickly. Why does a blade break before it goes blunt? Almost always because it was not tensioned enough in the frame, or because it was twisted in the cut. A slack blade flexes and cracks. Bi-metal construction reduces the risk but does not remove the need for proper tension. Is there another size in the range? Yes. The range includes 150 mm blades at 24 TPI (1600A03AC9) and 300 mm blades at 32 TPI (1600A03A7Z), both in packs of three and both bi-metal. ..

Bosch Hacksaw Blades 1600A03AC9, 150 mm, 3 pcs, 24 TPI The Bosch 1600A03AC9 is a pack of 3 hand hacksaw blades, 150 mm long with 24 teeth per inch. The blades are bi-metal - an HSS tooth welded to an HCS body - with a hardness of HRC 62-68. The blade tension stated by the manufacturer is 180 N. The 24 TPI pitch 24 teeth per inch is the mid-range pitch for this blade size: fine enough for thin-walled tube and section, coarse enough not to clog in thicker material. Which saw they fit One hundred and fifty millimetres is the junior hacksaw length - the one-handed frame that reaches where a full-size saw cannot: into a duct, behind a pipe, between two sections. The blades mount in a standard hacksaw frame through the holes at each end and are tensioned with the frame's wing nut. Tension matters: a slack blade twists in the cut and breaks long before it goes blunt. Bosch Professional Drywall Saw 150 mm, 8 TPI, 1 600 A03 BZ5 The Bosch 1 600 A03 BZ5 drywall saw has a 150 mm (6") blade with 8 teeth per inch (TPI). It is the tool for cutting access hatches, socket and switch boxes and openings around pipes in a finished plasterboard wall - where a jigsaw will not fit and machine dust is unwelcome. Teeth and material The blade is SK5 steel at HRC 61-68 - the high hardness abrasive gypsum demands. The tip and the teeth are induction hardened, which keeps the edge sharp far longer than an unhardened blade. The teeth are triple ground - they cut on both strokes and leave a cleaner edge instead of tearing the paper facing. Pointed tip The tip is sharpened so it can be pushed straight through the board without pre-drilling. That is the main advantage of this type of saw: mark the outline, punch the tip through and cut to the line. Handle The multi-component handle with soft-grip areas gives control when working overhead and reduces fatigue. A hang hole is formed at the end for hanging the tool in the workshop or on a belt. Applications Plasterboard and fibre-gypsum board, softwood, insulation boards and plastics - electrical first fix, suspended ceilings and partition walls, plumbing repairs in a finished wall.Technical specifications BrandBosch Professional Part number1600 A03 BZ5 EAN4059952737270 TypeDrywall saw Blade length150 mm / 6" Teeth8 TPI MaterialSK5 steel HardnessHRC 61-68 Tooth grindTriple ground, induction hardened TipPointed, for plunging without pre-drilling HandleMulti-component, with soft-grip areas Hang holeYes Pack quantity1 pc PackagingCardboard packaging, hanger, with Euro hole Questions and Answers Can it be plunged straight into the board? Yes. The tip is pointed for exactly that - it is pushed through the plasterboard and the cut starts with no pre-drilling. What does 8 TPI mean? Eight teeth per inch. Coarser teeth cut faster through a soft material like gypsum, whereas a finer pitch would clog with gypsum dust. How long is the blade? 150 mm (6"). That sets the maximum material thickness that can be cut with a full stroke. What steel is the blade and how hard is it? SK5 steel at HRC 61-68. The tip and teeth are induction hardened - it is the hardening that keeps the edge against abrasive gypsum. What does triple ground mean? Each tooth is ground on three faces, which gives it cutting edges in both directions of travel. The result is a cleaner cut with less tearing of the paper facing. Which materials besides plasterboard is it suitable for? Bosch offers it for drywall work. The same teeth also cut softwood, insulation boards and plastics. Hardwood and metal need saws with a different geometry. Can it be hung on a belt or in a workshop? Yes, there is a hang hole at the end of the handle. ..

Bosch Professional 1600A039R6 Handsaw, 450 mm, 11 TPI The Bosch 1600A039R6 is a handsaw for wood with a 450 mm blade and 11 teeth per inch from Bosch's professional hand-tool range. The manufacturer designed it for carpenters and professionals in other trades who want to cut wood with a reliable saw that lasts. Teeth in induction-hardened SK5 steel The teeth are made from induction-hardened SK5 steel for durability, with a hardness of 61-68 HRC. Induction hardening makes the cutting edge itself hard without making the whole blade brittle - which is why such teeth hold their edge considerably longer, but are not resharpened. 11 teeth per inch The 11 TPI tooth pitch is the all-round choice for carpentry: coarse enough to cut quickly across and along the grain, and fine enough to leave an acceptable edge. The same Bosch range also offers coarser 7 TPI versions for faster, rougher cutting. Angle guides The saw has angle guides for adjusting the blade's cutting angle. The back of the handle is shaped so it can be used to mark angles - typically 45 and 90 degrees - without a separate square. Handle with soft-grip areas The handle has soft-grip areas which, according to the manufacturer, help you work with less strain and with better control over the tool. Applications The handsaw is for cross-cutting and ripping solid timber, battens, boards, panels and wooden profiles - in carpentry, drywalling, installation and repair. The 450 mm length gives a long stroke and suits work on scaffolding and anywhere a power saw is impractical. Where this article sits in the Bosch range The Bosch handsaw range has four versions: 400 mm 11 TPI (1600A039R5), 500 mm 7 TPI (1600A039R7) and 550 mm 7 TPI (1600A039R8), besides this article. Since the versions look alike, the part number and the print on the blade are the reliable way to tell them apart. According to the manufacturer the article is supplied in a sleeve without any type of suspension, the pack quantity is one piece and the EAN is 4059952737249. Milwaukee Curved Pruning Saw, 35 cm Blade, 4932498623 Milwaukee article number 4932498623 is a hand pruning saw with a curved blade about 35 cm (14") long. The teeth use Japanese pull-cut geometry and the blade is chrome-plated. Saws in this class handle branches up to 200 mm in diameter. Pull-cutting - why it suits living wood A European saw cuts on the push; a Japanese saw cuts on the pull. The difference is mechanical and it has concrete consequences. On the push, the blade works in compression and must be thick enough not to buckle. On the pull, it works in tension - and steel takes many times more tension than compression. That is why a Japanese blade can be substantially thinner at the same strength. Two things follow in practice: a narrower kerf, meaning less material to remove and less effort; and better control starting the cut, because on the pull the blade does not skate across the bark the way it does on the push. The curved blade The curve is not styling. When pruning overhead - the most common posture with a saw like this - a curved blade holds itself in the cut: the weight of your arm and the direction of pull press it into the bottom of the kerf rather than pushing it out. With a straight blade you have to add pressure yourself, and with your arm raised that is exactly what tires you. Quadruple-ground teeth The teeth are ground on four faces. Each tooth cuts with several edges rather than one, which spreads the wear and holds the edge considerably longer. On living wood that has a second meaning: a sharp tooth severs the fibres, while a blunt one tears them - and a torn cut heals slowly and is an entry point for fungal infection. Chrome-plated blade Chrome plating does two things at once: it reduces friction in the cut, which matters in living wood because of resin and sap, and it prevents corrosion. Pruning saws are used seasonally and often put away damp - the chrome is what preserves them between seasons. How to cut a branch properly A branch more than a few centimetres thick is cut in three passes. First an undercut 20-30 cm out from the trunk, about a third of the way through. Then cut from above, slightly further out - the branch falls and the undercut stops the bark tearing down the trunk. Finally, take the stub off at the branch collar, without cutting into the collar itself: that is the tissue the tree uses to close the wound. Maintenance After use, clean off resin and wipe the blade dry. Japanese-geometry teeth are difficult to sharpen and are generally not restored at home - with saws of this type the blade is replaced. That makes cleaning and dry storage more important than on a conventional saw. Technical specifications ManufacturerMilwaukee Article number4932498623 TypeFixed-blade hand pruning saw BladeCurved, about 35 cm (14") Tooth geometryJapanese, pull-cut GrindingQuadruple Blade finishChrome-plated Maximum branch diameterUp to 200 mm HandleTwo-component, with hanging hole Questions and Answers What does pull-cutting mean? The teeth cut when the saw is pulled towards you, not pushed. The blade then works in tension rather than compression and can be substantially thinner at the same strength - hence the narrower kerf and lower effort. Why is the blade curved? Pruning overhead, a curved blade holds itself in the cut - the weight of your arm and the pull direction press it into the bottom of the kerf. A straight blade needs added pressure, which with a raised arm tires you quickly. What branch diameter will it cut? Saws in this class handle branches up to 200 mm. For thicker branches, and for repetitive work, a chainsaw is the sensible choice. How do I cut a thick branch properly? In three passes: an undercut 20-30 cm from the trunk (about a third through), then a cut from above slightly further out, and finally the stub removed at the branch collar. The undercut stops the bark tearing down the trunk. What does quadruple grinding achieve? Each tooth cuts with several edges instead of one, spreading the wear and holding the edge longer. A sharp tooth severs the fibres while a blunt one tears them - and a torn cut heals slowly. Can the blade be sharpened? Japanese-geometry teeth are hard to sharpen and generally not restored at home. With saws of this type the blade is replaced - which makes cleaning and dry storage more important than on a conventional saw. What is the chrome plating for? It reduces friction in the cut - which matters in living wood because of resin and sap - and prevents corrosion. Pruning saws are used seasonally and often put away damp. ..

STANLEY 1-15-122 Enclosed Grip Hacksaw, 300 mm The STANLEY 1-15-122 is a hand hacksaw with an enclosed grip and a 300 mm blade. The manufacturer designates it an Enclosed Grip Hacksaw - with a solid steel frame and a tensioning system adjusted without tools. Tool-free blade tensioning The tensioning system allows quick, fine adjustment of the tension by hand. Tension decides whether the cut runs true: an under-tensioned blade bows and cuts at an angle, an over-tensioned one snaps. The manufacturer states a blade tension figure of 102 kg for this frame. Four blade positions The blade rotates and locks in four positions, allowing both vertical and horizontal cuts. That matters when cutting a pipe or section close to a wall, where the frame fouls and cannot pass - the blade is then turned through 90° and the frame sits out of the way. Frame and handle The frame is solid steel and the handle is enclosed and shatterproof - the enclosed type protects the fingers if the blade breaks during a cut. Overall dimensions of the hacksaw are 400 x 149 x 30 mm at a weight of 0.554 kg. The blade Supplied with a 300 mm blade, 24 TPI, 12.7 mm wide and 0.6 mm thick. 24 TPI is the standard pitch for thin-walled sections and tubing - with a coarser pitch the teeth catch between the walls and break the blade. Maximum cutting depth is 95 mm and maximum capacity 110 mm. Applications Used for cutting steel sections, tube, bar, bolts, threaded rod and aluminium profile, as well as plastic pipe. STANLEY lists 2 pieces in the article - the frame and a blade - on carded packaging. The hacksaw takes standard 300 mm (12") blades. The supplied blade is 24 TPI, 12.7 mm wide and 0.6 mm thick according to the manufacturer. Why does blade tension matter? An under-tensioned blade bows and the cut runs off square, while an over-tensioned one snaps. The system here allows quick adjustment by hand; the manufacturer states a tension figure of 102 kg for this frame. What are the four blade positions for? The blade rotates and locks in four positions - for vertical and horizontal cuts. That helps when cutting close to a wall, where the frame fouls and cannot pass with the blade in its normal position. What does 24 TPI mean? 24 teeth per inch. It is the standard pitch for thin-walled sections and tubing. With a coarser pitch the teeth catch between the two walls of a tube and the blade breaks. How thick a material will it cut? Maximum cutting depth is 95 mm and the manufacturer's maximum capacity figure is 110 mm. The limit comes from the clearance between the blade and the back of the frame. Why is the handle enclosed? An enclosed shatterproof handle protects the fingers if the blade breaks mid-cut - the commonest accident with a hand hacksaw. It also gives a steadier grip under pressure. Does it cut plastic too? Yes, the hacksaw is also used on plastic pipe as well as steel sections, bar, bolts and threaded rod. On plastic, keep the stroke rate down so friction does not melt the edge. ..
