The Bosch 1 600 A03 BZ5 drywall saw has a 150 mm (6") blade with 8 teeth per inch (TPI). It is the tool for cutting access hatches, socket and switch boxes and openings around pipes in a finished plasterboard wall - where a jigsaw will not fit and machine dust is unwelcome.

Teeth and material

The blade is SK5 steel at HRC 61-68 - the high hardness abrasive gypsum demands. The tip and the teeth are induction hardened, which keeps the edge sharp far longer than an unhardened blade. The teeth are triple ground - they cut on both strokes and leave a cleaner edge instead of tearing the paper facing.

Pointed tip

The tip is sharpened so it can be pushed straight through the board without pre-drilling. That is the main advantage of this type of saw: mark the outline, punch the tip through and cut to the line.

Handle

The multi-component handle with soft-grip areas gives control when working overhead and reduces fatigue. A hang hole is formed at the end for hanging the tool in the workshop or on a belt.

Applications

Plasterboard and fibre-gypsum board, softwood, insulation boards and plastics - electrical first fix, suspended ceilings and partition walls, plumbing repairs in a finished wall.
