Bi-metal: hard tooth, flexible body

The bi-metal blade settles the old compromise in hacksaw blades. The tooth is high-speed HSS steel, which takes the heat and the wear of cutting steel; the body is the tougher carbon HCS steel, which bends instead of breaking. The two are joined by a weld along the whole length. The result is a blade that does not crack when it is slightly twisted in the cut - the commonest reason a one-piece blade fails long before its teeth are blunt.

The 24 TPI pitch

24 teeth per inch is the mid-range pitch for this blade size: fine enough for thin-walled tube and section, coarse enough not to clog in thicker material.

Which saw they fit

One hundred and fifty millimetres is the junior hacksaw length - the one-handed frame that reaches where a full-size saw cannot: into a duct, behind a pipe, between two sections. The blades mount in a standard hacksaw frame through the holes at each end and are tensioned with the frame's wing nut. Tension matters: a slack blade twists in the cut and breaks long before it goes blunt.
