The STANLEY STST83492-1 is a portable fold-up workbench with a capacity of up to 320 kg. The worktop folds in half and the legs collapse, so the whole bench carries and stores flat. It is aimed at tradespeople who need a work surface where they are, not a permanently equipped workshop.

Full clamping coverage

The worktop carries clamping holes across the whole working area, not just around the edges. That means clamps can be set where the workpiece needs them - in the middle, in a corner or across - instead of the workpiece being shuffled to suit a handful of available holes.

Automatic worktop locking

The top has an automatic locking mechanism in the open position. It engages by itself as the bench opens and prevents the top folding under load, which is the main hazard with folding work surfaces.

Joining several benches

The short sides carry end latches so several of these benches clip together into one longer continuous surface. STANLEY also states compatibility with the STST81337-1 metal sawhorse, so larger material can be cut safely.

Dimensions and weight

Open, the bench measures 85 x 59.3 x 73.9 cm; folded, 85 x 30.3 x 16 cm. Weight is 6.7 kg, light enough to carry one-handed. The legs are steel, the top is plastic and the colour is black. An integral accessories tray keeps screws and bits from scattering across the floor.

Applications

Suited to cutting, drilling, sanding and assembly on site, to fitting furniture and window frames, and to decorating and electrical work. It also serves as a temporary top during a refurbishment, when every surface in the room is already occupied.
