Bosch PRO Wood 165 x 30 mm, 48 teeth - a fine-cut blade

Tooth count decides what kind of cut you get. 48 teeth at 165 mm diameter is the high end for a hand-held saw, and Bosch classes the result as a fine cut: each tooth takes a small bite, the edge comes off clean and a visible joint needs no sanding. By comparison, a 12-tooth blade in the same range cuts far faster but leaves a rough edge.

Tooth geometry

The tooth form is ATB - alternate top bevel, where neighbouring teeth are ground in opposite directions. Each tooth slices across the grain like a knife, so the edge does not tear out. Hook angle is 15° and the relief angle is also 15°.

Dimensions and speed

Outside diameter is 165 mm, bore 30 mm. The plate is 1.6 mm thick and the kerf is 2.6 mm; the difference is the set that keeps the blade from binding in the cut. Maximum permitted speed is 9500 rpm - always check your saw does not exceed it.

Why 48 teeth rather than fewer?

More teeth means a finer cut. At 48 each tooth takes a small bite and the edge comes off clean - right for visible joints and coated boards.

What is the bore?

30 mm. Check your saw's arbor - a 30 mm bore will not fit a 20 mm spindle without a reduction ring, and none is included.

What does ATB mean?

Alternate top bevel - neighbouring teeth are ground in opposite directions. Each slices across the grain like a knife so the edge does not tear.

What is the difference between 1.6 and 2.6 mm?

1.6 mm is the thickness of the blade plate; 2.6 mm is the width of the cut. The difference is the set that keeps the blade from binding.

Is there a speed limit?

Yes - 9500 rpm maximum. If your saw runs faster, this blade must not be used.

Will it cut chipboard and MDF?

Yes. At 48 teeth the cut in wood-based board is clean. On laminated board feed slowly so the coating does not chip.
