Bosch EXPERT for Wood Circular Saw Blade 254 x 30 mm, 60 Teeth, 2608642530
Bosch EXPERT for Wood (article number 2 608 642 530) is a carbide-tipped circular saw blade measuring 254 mm in diameter with a 30 mm bore and 60 teeth. The kerf is 2.4 mm over a 1.8 mm plate, and maximum speed is 7,500 rpm. The blade is intended for table saws and mitre saws, cutting both softwood and hardwood.
60 teeth at 254 mm - what kind of cut that is
Tooth count sets the trade-off between speed and cut quality. A 24-40 tooth blade cuts fast but leaves a ragged edge; 60 teeth at 254 mm sits in the range for a clean crosscut - where the edge stays visible and gets no further finishing. In practice this is the mitre saw blade: skirting, joinery, mouldings, frames and anything where the cut face is the finished surface.
Microteq teeth
The tips are Microteq carbide, produced in-house by Bosch from extremely fine carbide grains. Grain size determines two things at once: how sharp the cutting edge can be made and how long it holds that edge. Fine grain gives a sharper, more stable edge, which in timber shows up as less fibre tear-out on the underside of the cut.
ATB geometry
The teeth use an alternate top bevel (ATB) - each successive tooth ground the opposite way. The point severs the wood fibres from the side rather than pushing them forward, and that is precisely what protects the lower edge from splintering. This is why ATB is the standard geometry for crosscutting.
30 mm bore - check before ordering
The bore is 30 mm, the standard for European table and mitre saws. If your machine has a 25.4 mm or 16 mm arbor you need a reducing ring, not a blade forced onto the spindle. Also check your machine's maximum speed: it must not exceed 7,500 rpm.
Getting a clean cut
Even the best blade splinters the underside if the workpiece has no backing. On a mitre saw use a sacrificial fence board; on a table saw, a zero-clearance insert. Feed the work steadily: too slow and the teeth heat up and burn the cut, too fast and the tips are overloaded. The blade must be clean - accumulated resin increases friction and is the most common reason a perfectly good blade starts scorching timber.
Maintenance
Remove resin with a dedicated cleaner or a degreaser, never with an abrasive - that damages the coating and dulls the cutting edge. A blunt blade announces itself with burn marks on the cut, increased feed effort, and a change in the sound of the machine. Carbide blades of this class can be resharpened by a specialist many times over, which costs far less than a new blade.
