Bosch Eco for Wood Circular Saw Blade, 254 x 30 mm, 40 Teeth, 2608644383

Bosch 2608644383 is a circular saw blade for wood from the Eco for Wood range, 254 mm diameter with a 30 mm bore and 40 tungsten carbide tipped teeth. Kerf is 3.0 mm on a 2.0 mm body, and maximum speed is 6,000 rpm.

Which machines it is for

The blade is made for stationary corded circular saws - table saws and mitre saws with a 30 mm arbor. A 254 mm diameter at 6,000 rpm is the combination almost every machine of that class runs.

What 40 teeth give you

40 teeth at 254 mm is the general-purpose count. Fewer teeth cut faster but rougher; more (80 or 100) give a cleaner finish but push harder and load the machine on rip cuts. With 40 you work along and across the grain without swapping blades for each operation.

The teeth are ATB - alternate top bevel, each tooth ground to the opposite side of the one before it. That profile slices the wood fibres instead of pushing them, which is why a cross cut comes out without tear-out at the edge. Rake angle is 15Β°.

The 3.0 mm kerf

With a 2.0 mm body and a 3.0 mm cut, the tooth is a millimetre wider than the plate. That difference is why the blade does not bind in the cut: the sawn material cannot pinch the body from the sides. A narrow kerf has a second benefit - less material turned to dust and less work for the motor.

The carbide tips

The teeth carry brazed tungsten carbide tips. They are fully ground and selected so the blade keeps its edge for a long time. Carbide outlasts steel many times over in glued board, knots and the odd leftover nail - but it is also brittle: hitting metal chips a tip rather than dulling it.

Questions and Answers

Why 40 teeth?

At 254 mm, 40 teeth is the general-purpose count. Fewer cut fast but rough; 80 or 100 give a cleaner finish but push harder on rip cuts. Forty works both ways.

What does ATB mean?

Alternate top bevel - each tooth is ground to the opposite side of the previous one. The profile slices the wood fibres instead of pushing them, so cross cuts come out without tear-out.

Will it fit a hand-held circular saw?

The blade is intended for stationary corded saws - table and mitre saws. Hand-held circular saws are usually smaller in diameter and use a different bore.

What is the bore size?

30 mm - the European standard for stationary saws. Check your machine's arbor before buying, as reduction rings are not part of the blade.

Why is the kerf 3.0 mm and the body 2.0 mm?

The tooth is a millimetre wider than the plate so the blade does not bind in the cut - the sawn material cannot pinch the body. A narrow kerf also wastes less material as dust.

Can it cut board with nails in it?

Better not. Carbide tips last a long time in wood but are brittle - hitting metal chips a tip rather than dulling it.

What is the maximum speed?

6,000 rpm. The figure is printed on the blade itself and must not be exceeded by the machine you fit it to.
