Bosch 2608522523 is a pack of 15 impact bits in PH2, 55 mm long, from the PRO Impact range. The shank is an impact-rated 1/4" hex.

Why 15 pieces

PH2 is the most-used bit size there is - it covers the bulk of cross-head screws in construction and installation. That is why it is sold in large packs: under heavy use a bit drives a certain number of screws and then gets replaced, and having no spare stops the whole crew. Fifteen pieces means a box that does not run out halfway through the job.

Up to 50 times more robust

Bosch states up to 50 times the durability of its standard 2607001528 Extra Hard bit. It comes from:

• Heat-treated modified steel - resistant to high torque instead of twisting permanently.
• An extended torsion zone - a narrowed section of the shank that absorbs the impact pulse before it reaches the tip.

An impact driver delivers torque in blows, not smoothly. Without a torsion zone every blow goes straight into the tip; with one, the shank takes the energy by twisting elastically. That is why ordinary bits break in an impact driver within hours while impact-rated ones last months.

The 55 mm length

55 mm is the middle length. Short 25 mm bits are for tight spots, but the driver's nose fouls the workpiece. Long 90 and 150 mm bits reach into deep holes and recessed seats, but they are less stable and wobble as you drive. 55 mm gives enough clearance without losing precision - it is the everyday length.

Magnetic tip and colour coding

The tip is magnetic, with a black phosphate coating - the screw stays on the bit while you place it one-handed. The bits are colour coded, so you find the size in the box without reading labels.
