Pica-Ink 150/40 is a marker for hard-to-reach places, with red ink, a length of 152 mm and a 2 mm line. The ink is permanent and waterproof. EAN 4260056150104. The SB suffix denotes blister packaging.

The extended tip

The tip is extended, in stainless steel, and adjustable. That is the whole point of the range: the marker reaches into a drilled hole, a narrow gap or behind a section where an ordinary marker fouls on the edge and never reaches the bottom. For marking hole depth or a point behind an obstruction there is effectively no alternative.

Permanent and waterproof

The ink does not rub off and does not wash away. That is the difference from the graphite Pica-Dry range, whose mark can be corrected. Here the marking is final - an advantage where it must survive rain, dust and handling, and a drawback for setting out lines that later get in the way.

Why red

On the Pica-Ink range the body colour follows the ink colour, so the variant is recognisable on sight without opening it. Red reads well on light and metallic surfaces. The range also offers black (150/46) and blue (150/41) for other substrates.

Loose or blister

The same marker exists under two numbers: 150/40 loose and 150/40/SB on a retail blister. The tool is identical; only the packaging differs. Check the number when ordering, because the names are practically the same.

What it writes on

PICA's ink markers grip metal, plastic, wood and stone, including smooth and lightly oiled surfaces. That makes them an installation tool rather than an office marker.

Storage

Keep the marker tightly capped and preferably horizontal. A fine metal tip dries out faster than a broad felt one, and once blocked it is hard to recover - the usual reason such a marker stops writing long before the ink runs out.
