Bosch Professional Trapezoid Blades, 1 600 A03 AX7

The Bosch 1 600 A03 AX7 replacement blades have a trapezoid profile - the classic utility knife blade shape on a building site. Blade length is 61.5 mm and cutting width 19 mm. This is the most common trapezoid blade size and it fits not only the Bosch folding knife but knives from other makers with the same seat.

Material

The blades are SK5 steel - a high-carbon tool steel hardened enough for clean cuts in abrasive materials. That is exactly why a trapezoid blade is preferred over a thin snap-off blade for plasterboard and carpet: it is thicker, harder and does not flex under side load.

Applications

Bosch lists cutting wallpaper, carpet and drywall. To that add the everyday site jobs - cutting insulation boards, opening packaging, trimming seals and films, cutting bitumen membrane.

Changing blades and safety

The blades come in a dispenser box that releases one at a time - no rummaging through loose blades. A blunt blade is more dangerous than a sharp one: it needs more force and wanders off the cut line more easily, so change it at the first sign of tearing rather than slicing. Collect used blades rather than putting them in general waste.

Bosch classes them as blades for a folding knife and states they are a perfect fit for the Bosch folding knife but can also be used with knives from other brands. The profile and the 19 mm size are standard for a trapezoid blade.
