Stanley 1-93-301 PANELCARRY is a panel carrier rated to 91 kg. Height 370 mm, width 165 mm. It is made from impact-resistant plastic.

The problem it solves

A sheet of plasterboard, OSB or chipboard takes two people to carry - not because it is heavy, but because it is large with nothing to hold. One person either drags it on its edge or presses it against the body and cannot see where to step. The carrier provides a handle at the centre of the weight: the sheet hangs vertically at the side of the body, one hand does the carrying, and the other stays free for a door, a ladder or a handrail.

How it works

The lower channel sits under the bottom edge of the sheet and the curved handle lifts. The weight of the sheet presses into the channel and wedges it - the heavier it is, the more firmly it holds. Nothing is tightened and nothing is adjusted.

Load rating

91 kg is more than one person can carry. The figure matters for a different reason: it guarantees the carrier does not deform on a sharp lift, where the load is several times the static weight.

Who it suits

Drywall, joinery, furniture fitting and warehouse work. It earns its keep on stairs and in narrow corridors and doorways, where two people simply cannot manoeuvre a sheet.

Carrying it properly

The carrier goes at the middle of the long edge of the sheet, not wherever it lands. Set off-centre it tilts the board and the whole weight hangs on one corner - which is where plasterboard breaks first. Going through a doorway, turn the sheet narrow edge first and let the free hand guide the leading corner. On stairs, keep the sheet on the wall side so the handrail stays available to the free hand.

Material

The body is impact-resistant plastic - light, rust-free, and it leaves no marks on the show face of a sheet the way a steel carrier would.
