Pica Pocket 505/02 is a bundle of a pencil holster with a built-in sharpening blade and a Pica Classic 541 stonemason pencil, 24 cm long. The manufacturer describes the Pocket as holster and sharpener in one: a robust holder that keeps a thick wooden pencil secured and always to hand, and sharpens it with the same tool once it goes blunt. Variant 505/02 is the bundle with the stonemason pencil. The range also includes bundles with a carpenter's pencil (505/01), a Black & White pencil (505/03) and a For All universal pencil (505/04).

The Pica Pocket holster

The holster is 195 mm long and takes thick wooden pencils of any cross-section - oval, flat oval, Black Edge, triangular and hexagonal - and of any length. The built-in clamping function fixes the pencil, and the clip with extra reinforcement keeps the holster firmly on a pocket. The pencil can be used right down to the smallest stub.

The pencil is always to hand

The idea behind the Pica Pocket is simple: the pencil sits in the same place on the pocket, clamped in the holster, and can be pulled out without looking for it. Attention stays on the job, the pencil does not get lost in the tool bag, and the sharpener is always with it. Pica lists the Pocket in its Innovative Line.

Sharpening blade with a stop

A carbon steel blade is built into the holster. Next to it sits a safety bar that limits the cutting depth, much like a potato peeler. Sharpening is quick and precise, and the fingers are protected from injury.

The Pica Classic 541 stonemason pencil

Pica Classic 541 is an oval stonemason pencil with a graphite lead in the special hardness 10H and high breaking strength. The wood comes from sustainably managed forests and is easy to sharpen. The manufacturer recommends it for marking on brick, stone, concrete and wood.

Applications

The bundle is meant for work on rough mineral surfaces where the pencil needs to sit on the pocket rather than in the toolbox. When the stonemason pencil is used up, any other thick wooden pencil - a carpenter's pencil, for example - fits in the holster.
