Pica 55801 is an accessory for the Pica Dry automatic pencil - a set of 5 coloured caps in white, yellow, red, blue and dark green. They let several Pica Dry pencils be told apart by colour - for example by the lead loaded in each - so the right pencil is found quickly.

The bag holds one cap of each colour. The manufacturer packs the caps in clear bags with a hanging tab. Pica supplies them to dealers on a clip strip with 10 bags and a metal hook for hanging in the store, while the price here is for one bag of 5 caps.

Which pencil they fit

Pica presents the caps as an accessory for Pica Dry - the deep-hole automatic pencil (article 3030) that takes 2.8 mm leads. According to the manufacturer the pencil has a Power Lock mechanism for a stronger hold on the lead. Pica Dry can be loaded with different leads: water-soluble Multi-Use 2B, water-jet-resistant special leads, carpenter leads H and summer leads 2B. When pencils with different leads are in use, the coloured cap shows which one is loaded.

Coloured leads for Pica Dry

Besides graphite, Pica Dry also takes coloured refill leads - for example the 4040 set of water-jet-resistant special leads in blue, white and green, or the single-colour 4041 (blue), 4042 (green) and 4043 (white). The coloured caps do not replace the leads - they only mark the pencil.
