Pica BIG Ink Smart-Use Marker XL, Black - 170/46

Pica BIG Ink 170/46 is a permanent marker with a deep hole function in black. The manufacturer calls it the Smart-Use Marker XL - a combination of a deep hole marker and a permanent marker in one tool. Its thick tip allows both bold and precise marking on all smooth materials, while the extra-long tip reaches hard-to-reach places.

2-4 mm tip and the Twist&Revive system

The line width is 2-4 mm and the marker is 160 mm long. The special tip is soft and sturdy at the same time, which according to Pica gives it a unique writing feel. The double writing tip uses the Twist&Revive system: it can be twisted and reinserted, so the marker quickly revives and lasts longer.

XL ink reservoir and side holster

The XL ink reservoir gives a longer writing time. The marker sits in a side holster, so it is always at hand, and the manufacturer also lists one-hand operation. Pica advises always closing the marker after use to prevent it from drying out.

Ink

The red, blue and black variants use a permanent alcohol-based ink which, according to the manufacturer, is immediately water- and abrasion-resistant. This page is for the black marker 170/46. For refilling, Pica sells the Ink Refill Set separately in black, blue and red - a glass bottle with 25 ml of ink and a pipette for precise dosing, enough for 15 fillings and more.

BIG Ink or Pica Ink

Pica's Innovative Line includes two ink markers for deep holes. Pica Ink is a deep hole marker with a 1.5 mm tip, while the manufacturer describes BIG Ink as a combination of a deep hole marker and a permanent marker - with a thicker 2-4 mm tip for bolder lines. The Ink Refill Set is shared by both markers.

Surfaces and colours

BIG Ink is intended for all smooth and dry surfaces. The manufacturer lists tiles, glass, plastic, paper, metal, rubber, wood and brick. The range comes in four colours - red (170/40), blue (170/41), black (170/46) and white (170/52) - and blister packs in the same colours are available for retail.
