Milwaukee M18 CCS55-0 is a cordless circular saw from the M18 FUEL range, taking a 165 mm blade. It cuts to 55 mm at 90 degrees and 41 mm at 45 degrees. The -0 version comes without battery or charger. Article 4933446223.

The motor

The POWERSTATE motor is brushless, designed and built by Milwaukee. Against a brushed machine it gives up to 3x longer motor life and up to 2x more cuts per charge. No-load speed is 5,000 rpm.

Depth and bevel

At 90 degrees the depth is 55 mm - enough for a 50 mm joist or two sheets of OSB in one pass. At 45 degrees, 41 mm remains. The shoe tilts to 50 degrees, which covers the roofing details where 45 falls short.

Blade and bore

The blade is 165 mm with a 15.87 mm (5/8 inch) bore - the standard for cordless circular saws. Blades with a 20 mm bore will not fit without a reducing ring, which is a common ordering mistake.

Electronics and batteries

REDLINK PLUS watches the load on both tool and battery and shuts down on overload before anything burns. The saw runs on all Milwaukee M18 batteries, compact and high-output alike.

Noise and vibration

Sound pressure 80.8 dB(A), sound power 91.8 dB(A), vibration 2.45 m/s². The low vibration figure shows on long rips - the hand is not numb after the third sheet.

When a cordless saw replaces the corded one

A corded saw stays ahead for a full day of continuous ripping in thick stock. But on roofs, formwork, decking and fit-out the work comes in bursts - ten cuts, move, ten more. There the lead is mostly a nuisance: it catches on joists, drags when moving along scaffold, and wants an extension at every reposition. That is why a cordless saw stopped being a compromise for fitting crews some time ago. The 55 mm depth covers the material those jobs actually involve - board, OSB, cladding, battens and 50 mm joists.

The small things

There is a fuel gauge on the body and an LED light on the cut line. The dust port swivels and accepts a hose or a bag.
