The long tip goes where the barrel cannot

Those 30 millimetres are the length of the protruding tip, not the width of the line it draws. That reach is what lets you mark through a drilled hole, down a deep socket or behind a profile - places where the fat body of a normal marker bottoms out before the point ever touches the surface. An ultra-fine point for a thin, accurate line

The point is an ultra-fine type, for a thin line that stays readable when you are setting out an anchor hole or marking a drilling centre. The surfaces Milwaukee rates the marker for are concrete, OSB and rough jobsite surfaces. On abrasive ground like that an ordinary fine marker frays after a few strokes; this tip is built to take it.

Resharpen the tip instead of binning the marker

When the ultra-fine point wears down, the marker does not go in the bin: the collar pushes back, the worn section is cut off and the marker carries on writing. Milwaukee marks this on the packaging as Built to Resharpen. It is also why the tip looks like a thin rod - there has to be material sticking out before there is anything to trim.

72 hours with the cap off

Milwaukee states that the marker keeps writing after more than 72 hours of cap-off time, which on site is the difference that counts, because the cap rarely goes straight back on. The European box also carries two markings that Milwaukee's own European text does not explain - 2 IN 1 and Twist Off Cap; they are noted here as printed, with no meaning read into them.
