Milwaukee 4932498768 is a magnetic tape measure of the fourth generation (GEN IV), 5 m long, with a 30 mm blade and a standout of up to 4.5 m. The scale is metric only.

4.5 m standout - the number that matters

Standout is how much blade stays rigid in the air before it folds. At 4.5 m out of 5 m practically the whole tape works horizontally - you measure a ceiling, an opening or a beam on your own, without a second person holding the end. It comes from a straighter, stiffer blade, and the 30 mm width is part of the same equation: a wide blade is harder to bend.

The magnetic hook

The hook is strongly magnetic. On steel studs, track and structure it sticks to the edge and the blade stays put on its own - one hand freed. For drylining, HVAC and electrical work, which is mostly on metal, that is the reason to pick the magnetic model specifically.

Blade durability

The first 15 cm of the blade carry a double-sided anti-tear coating. Tapes do not tear in the middle - they tear right there, at the base of the hook, where the blade flexes on every retraction. The body is impact resistant, which on site means it survives a fall off the scaffold.

Controlled retraction

Finger-Stop is a thumb rest that lets you slow the blade smoothly instead of grabbing it with your fingernails. Retraction is faster and without blade rollover - the classic jam where the blade goes back into the case skewed.

Scales

Printing is double-sided, with vertical and horizontal scales, so the numbers read the right way up when you measure up a wall. There is also an architectural scale for taking dimensions straight off a scaled drawing.
