Why shears need a holster

Pruning shears are a tool used in bursts: two cuts, move, three more cuts. In between they should be neither held nor put down - shears left on the ground get lost in the grass and stepped on. The holster keeps them on the belt, blade down and closed, where they come out one-handed.

The second reason is the blade. Shears thrown into a bucket or a pocket go blunt faster than the work blunts them, because the edge knocks against metal and grit. Plus the obvious: an open blade in a pocket cuts the fabric and your hand.

Back panel and belt

The back panel is flexible. On a belt holster that is the difference between a tool you notice and one you forget about - a rigid back digs into the thigh every time you bend. The material

The front is hard plastic - it receives the blade and stops the tip poking through the holster, which on all-fabric holsters is only a matter of time. The build is intended for outdoor use: the holster spends whole days in sun and rain.

Multi-Fit

The holster is designed to accept both shear sizes - 20 mm and 25 mm. In practice that means replacing or adding a second pair of shears does not mean replacing the holster.
