Milwaukee article number 49162767 is a protective rubber boot for the M18 FUEL 1/2" high-torque impact wrench. The boot wraps the tool's housing and protects both the tool and the surface it is set down on.

Protection in both directions

Its job is not only to look after the machine. A high-torque impact wrench is a heavy tool with a hard housing, and set down on a bonnet, a painted wheel or a finished floor it leaves a mark. A rubber boot answers both cases: it absorbs the impact if the tool is dropped and will not scratch what it rests on.

Resistance to aggressive fluids

The material is durable rubber, chosen to withstand what is found in a maintenance environment - oils, fuels, brake fluid, antifreeze and degreasers. An ordinary plastic or fabric cover in that environment hardens, cracks and falls apart within months. That is exactly why this is rubber rather than something cheaper.

Form-fitting design

The boot is moulded to the housing of this specific model. That matters: a form-fitting cover adds minimal bulk and weight, so the tool still reaches into the same spaces and still fits in its case. Universal stretch-fabric covers do the opposite - they add girth precisely where an impact wrench is already bulky. The flexible material lets the boot be fitted and removed by hand, with no tools.

Compatibility - check before ordering

The boot is made for the M18 FUEL 1/2" high-torque impact wrench, which Milwaukee lists as 2767-20 and, in the ONE-KEY version, 2863-20. Protective boots are not universal - each is moulded to a particular housing. Check your machine's model before ordering; a boot from another model will either not fit or will block the ventilation slots.

One important limitation

The boot is not electrically insulating. The manufacturer states explicitly that it must not be used on or near live electrical circuits - the rubber here is mechanical and chemical protection, not dielectric. Fitting it to a different tool can cause the motor to overheat if the ventilation slots are covered, and can void that tool's warranty.
