DeWalt DWST83524-9 is a tool bag with backpack straps from the ToughSystem 2.0 range, in the McLaren Formula 1 Team special edition. It is a half-width module by the system's standard, with over 30 pockets, a load rating of 18 kg and dimensions of around 30 x 38 cm.

Part of the ToughSystem 2.0 range

The key difference from an ordinary work backpack is the rigid plastic base with ToughSystem 2.0 latches. It lets the bag lock onto any other module in the range - cases, organisers, the trolley - so the whole stack moves as one. On site that means one trip to the vehicle instead of four, and in the boot, a tidy wall instead of scattered boxes.

Over 30 pockets with 360° access

The pockets are laid out for 360° access in a range of sizes, including dedicated places for power tools, batteries and gear. The difference from a bag with one large compartment is practical: each tool has a permanent home and is found by hand, without tipping the contents out. Working one-handed on a ladder, that is the difference between reaching and climbing down.

Material and water protection

It is made from 1680D polyester combined with a water- and dirt-repellent tarpaulin. The 1680D figure denotes yarn density - the higher the number, the thicker the yarn and the more abrasion the fabric takes. The plastic base is the key detail: it absorbs no water, so the bag can be set down on wet concrete or muddy ground without the contents suffering. The base is exactly where ordinary fabric bags fail first.

Carrying

The bag has padded shoulder straps and a top handle. Carrying it on your back is what separates it from a case: at 18 kg, two shoulders spread the load and leave both hands free - which matters climbing a ladder or crossing uneven ground.

McLaren special edition

This edition carries McLaren Formula 1 Team livery - black with orange accents and a Special Edition marking. The livery is cosmetic; the construction and functionality are identical to the standard model in the range. DeWalt's special editions are produced in limited quantities and are not reissued once sold out.

Who it suits

It is aimed at electricians, installers, maintenance technicians and anyone who carries tools to the work point rather than working out of a vehicle. If you already use ToughSystem 2.0, the bag joins your existing stack; if not, it works perfectly well on its own.
