Bosch Deep Hole Marker Pencil, 1 600 A03 B64

The Bosch 1 600 A03 B64 mechanical pencil is made for marking where an ordinary pencil cannot reach: inside a finished hole, behind a pipe, in a narrow gap. The long tip, on a 5.7 mm shank, passes through a hole in a wall or in formwork and leaves a clear mark at the bottom of it. The pencil is 151 mm long overall.

Body and lead

The body is stainless steel - resistant to bending and to the damp that is normal on a building site. The lead is 2.8 mm in diameter with HB hardness, the general-purpose grade that writes dark enough on timber and plasterboard without snapping under pressure on a rough surface.

Integrated sharpener

A sharpener is built into the cap. On a tool for this job it is essential: a mark in a deep hole is only useful if the tip is sharp, and a 2.8 mm lead blunts quickly on concrete and render. The sharpener travels with the pencil, so sharpening needs no second tool.

Replacement leads

Bosch supplies replacement leads for this pencil in two versions - HB under part number 1 600 A03 AL4 and Multicolor (2 HB, 2 red, 2 yellow) under 1 600 A03 AL5. Both are 2.8 mm in diameter and 120 mm long.

Carrying a centre line through an existing hole, marking depth in a blind hole, marking behind pipes and cables, scribing in corners and gaps - the everyday tasks of an electrician, a plumber, a drylining fitter and a carpenter.
