Bosch PRO Concreters Nippers 1600A039TZ, 225 mm

The Bosch PRO 1600A039TZ are concreters nippers, 225 mm long, made from chrome-vanadium steel with a hardness of HRC 60 plus-minus 2. The cutting edges are laser hardened and the handles carry a dipped coating. The tool comes from the Bosch Professional PRO hand tool range.

Jaws for wire and nails

Concreters nippers carry jaws set across the handles, with cutting edges that meet end on. That geometry is built for two things: cutting wire close to the surface and pulling nails by gripping and rolling the tool, with the handle acting as the lever. A hardness of HRC 60 puts the steel in the range where the cutting edge takes mild steel wire without denting.

Laser-hardened edges

The cutting edges are hardened separately by laser - a treatment that hardens only a thin layer at the edge itself, leaving the body of the tool tougher and less likely to crack under load. The manufacturer states cutting force up to 25% above the requirement of the applicable standard for this type of pliers.

Dipped handles

The handles carry a dipped coating, applied by immersing the whole leg. It does not slip in a wet hand, is easier to clean than a moulded rubber grip and does not trap cement slurry in a texture. The coating is for grip comfort, not electrical insulation - these nippers are not declared as a VDE tool.

Applications

Tying and cutting reinforcement wire in formwork and rebar work, pulling nails from shuttering panels and boards, cutting nails and soft wire when stripping formwork, general demolition work on site.
