Bosch GWS 18V-8 Professional Cordless Angle Grinder, 115 mm, 18V

The GWS 18V-8 is a compact cordless angle grinder for 115 mm discs with a brushless motor. No load speed is 11,000 min^-1, the spindle is M14 and weight without a battery is 1.6 kg. Bosch rates its performance as equivalent to an 800 W corded machine.

Why 115 mm rather than 125

A smaller disc means a lighter, narrower machine that reaches where a 125 mm one will not - between sections, down a duct, along reinforcement close to a wall. The trade-off is less cutting depth. At 1.6 kg without a battery the tool can be held one-handed for a long time, which matters when dressing overhead.

What is in the box

Article 0 601 9N9 004 is the bare tool version, in a cardboard box. Battery and charger are NOT included, and there is no case. Bosch supplies the machine with a guard, a mounting flange, a clamping nut, a two-pin spanner and an auxiliary handle.

Dust extraction

The flange is metal and allows connection to Bosch dust extractors. Cutting tile or masonry in an occupied room, that is the difference between working with extraction and spending a day cleaning afterwards.

Applications

Per Bosch, the machine is for light-duty work: cutting reinforcement, sheet metal, PVC and tile, deburring and dressing edges on light metal. The maker aims it at electricians, plumbing and HVAC trades and metalwork.
