STROXX 102-515 is a stainless steel folding knife with a wood inlay in the handle and a black titanium finish. Handle length 11 cm. It has a safety lock. The STROXX logo is set into the wood.

The titanium finish

Blade and frame carry a black titanium coating (Black T1). The coating is not decoration: it is harder than the steel beneath it, so the edge dulls more slowly and the surface neither scratches nor picks up marks from resin, adhesive or silicone - all of which find their way onto any knife on site.

The wood inlay

The handle is black titanium with wood set into it. Beyond appearance, the wood has a practical role: it does not go cold the way metal does. A metal handle below freezing is unpleasant to hold and dulls the feel, whereas wood stays bearable in gloves or out of them.

The lock

The knife has a safety lock of a neat design - the blade fixes open and will not fold onto the fingers under pressure. That is the difference between a work knife and a pocket knife: cutting rope, strapping or sheeting, the pressure comes sideways rather than along the axis, and an unlocked knife folds at exactly that moment.

The shape

The blade has a streamlined profile - a straight edge with a gently curved point. That geometry cuts well both along its length and with the tip, unlike heavily curved blades which only suit a slicing stroke.

Looking after a folding knife

What clogs a folding knife is dust and sawdust, not rust. The sign is a blade that starts opening in jerks and a lock that clicks uncertainly. The fix is simple: open the knife, blow the pivot out with compressed air and put one drop of machine oil into the joint, then work the blade a dozen times. Do not use WD-40 as the lubricant - it washes out what little grease is left, and a week later the mechanism is drier than before.

Who it suits

Everyday carry on site: opening packaging, cutting rope and strapping, trimming insulation and sheeting, cleaning up an edge. The 11 cm handle is the format that rides in a pocket without getting in the way.
