STROXX 102-496 is a telescopic installation prop for holding building components temporarily in place. It extends steplessly from 1.80 to 2.90 m and carries up to 90 kg under vertical load. Article number 102-496, EAN 5707436126407.

What it is for

The prop holds what would otherwise need a second pair of hands: a plasterboard sheet against a ceiling, a sub-construction before it is screwed off, foil or membrane during installation, a panel that has to stay pressed until the adhesive sets. Working alone it is the difference between possible and impossible; working in a pair it turns two fitters into one fitter and one runner.

Extending and locking

Adjustment is stepless across the whole 1.80-2.90 m range through a quick-release clamp: pull the tube roughly to height, tighten the clamp, then take up the last centimetres on the clamp itself. There are no holes and no pins, which means no fixed increments - the prop sits at exactly the height of the room in front of you.

The articulated pressure plates

Both ends carry pivoting plates. That is the detail that separates an installation prop from a plain brace: the plate follows a sloping or uneven surface and beds down over its full area instead of on an edge. On a raked ceiling, an uneven floor or when propping at an angle, the load stays centred and the prop does not skate sideways.

Steel construction and certification

The telescopic tube is steel - this prop is built for daily site use rather than one job. The product is GS-certified and TUV-tested, which means the 90 kg rating has been proved rather than merely stated. That matters, because a prop by definition stands under a load that somebody is working beneath.

Using it properly

The load rating applies to vertical loading (90°). The prop is not a fastening and does not replace a formwork prop or a temporary structure - it holds until the component is permanently fixed. Load is spread far better across two props than one.
