A multi-position ladder locks in several configurations, so one item replaces a step ladder, a straight ladder and a ladder for working on stairs. The KX2603A has four sections of three rungs, is made of aluminium and is rated at 150 kg to EN 131. Fully extended as a straight ladder it reaches 3.70 m; folded it measures 95 x 37 x 25 cm and fits in a car boot.

Working positions

The four sections are joined by self-locking hinges. The supplier states three working dimensions: 3.70 m as a straight ladder, 2.67 m in the "Г" position and 1.80 m in the "А" position. What changes between them is which pair of sections stays folded and which is opened out. The hinges click home at fixed angles - before climbing, check that all four have engaged fully, because a partly locked hinge is the most dangerous state this kind of ladder can be in.

Construction

The stiles are aluminium and the rungs are ribbed for better grip underfoot in a work boot. Transverse stabiliser bars with rubber feet are fitted at the bottom; they widen the footprint and reduce the risk of the ladder sliding when opened on a smooth floor.
