Article 4932493560 is a Milwaukee rubber protective boot that slips over the body of an impact wrench. Its job is a plain one: to take the knock when the tool is dropped, to keep the housing from being scuffed and scratched, and to hold dirt and aggressive fluids off the machine.

Milwaukee makes a separate boot for each housing: the one-inch M18 ONEFHIWF1 carries a different article number, 4932478760. Check the designation on your tool's rating plate before ordering, because a boot made for another housing will not sit tight.

The rubber

The boot is moulded from a hard-wearing special rubber that resists corrosive materials, and that resistance is what separates it from a plain silicone sock. The rubber absorbs the impact energy instead of the housing, and it is not attacked by the oils, grease and solvents found in a workshop or on a site.

A close fit that still comes off by hand

Milwaukee describes the construction as a close-fitting lightweight design: the boot follows the shape of the housing rather than hanging loose around it, so the tool does not grow bulkier and still reaches into the same tight spots.
