Milwaukee 4932471999 is a set of 11 dies in the R22 series for copper cable lugs, covering 16-300 mm², in a hard case. It is made for Milwaukee's M18 HCCT cordless hydraulic crimper.

Which sizes are included

The kit covers 16, 25, 35, 50, 70, 95, 120, 150, 185, 240 and 300 mm² - the machine's whole range in one case. That is the difference between carrying everything and discovering on site that the 95 is the one missing.

CU means copper

CU is copper. The die profile is matched to a copper lug - a material that flows differently from aluminium. Milwaukee also makes an AL version for aluminium; the two are not interchangeable. Crimping aluminium with a copper die gives a joint that looks right and does not hold.

Why hexagonal

The dies have a hexagonal profile. A hex grips the lug from six sides at once and deforms it evenly - unlike a two-jaw squeeze, which flattens the barrel and leaves voids. The result is lower contact resistance, and on a power connection contact resistance is what heats up.

The R22 series

R22 is the holder designation - round dies for the machine's 22 mm seat. The die drops into the head and turns; it changes in seconds with no tool. Switching cross-section happens dozens of times a day, so that speed matters.

Which machine

The kit is for the M18 HCCT - Milwaukee's FORCE LOGIC hydraulic crimper with 53 kN of force and a 16-300 mm² range. The machine completes its cycle in under 3 seconds and stops itself, which makes every crimp the same regardless of who makes it.

The case

The dies come in a hard case with a moulded seat for each. That is not a luxury: a 300 mm² die is heavy, and loose in transit it knocks into the others and into their profiles. A damaged profile means a rejected crimp, not just a scratched die.

Care

Keep the profiles clear of copper residue and dry. Never touch a die with a file - its geometry is what guarantees the cross-section of the joint, and any hand-dressing ruins it permanently.
