Milwaukee DIN22 AL Crimping Die Kit, 16-300 mm², 9 Pieces, 4932471998
Milwaukee 4932471998 is a set of 9 dies in the DIN22 series for aluminium compression cable lugs and connectors, covering 16-300 mm², in a hard case. For the M18 HCCT cordless hydraulic crimper.
Which sizes are included
The nine dies cover 16/25, 35, 50, 70, 95/120, 150, 185, 240 and 300 mm². Note the pairs 16/25 and 95/120 - with aluminium one die serves two adjacent cross-sections, which is why the kit has 9 pieces rather than the copper kit's 11.
AL means aluminium
AL is aluminium. An aluminium lug flows differently from a copper one and the profile is calculated for it. Milwaukee also makes CU versions for copper. The two are not interchangeable - crimping aluminium with a copper die gives a joint that looks right and does not hold.
Which standards
The profile conforms to DIN 46329, DIN 46267 parts 1 and 2, and DIN EN 50182. That is not a formality: on a power connection, sign-off goes through the standard rather than through how the crimp looks, and a non-conforming die makes the work unacceptable even when it physically holds.
DIN22 versus R22
DIN22 and R22 are two different profile series, though for the same machine. The 22 is the holder seat - both fit the M18 HCCT. The profile differs, so check which series the specification calls for before ordering.
Which machine
The kit is for the M18 HCCT from the FORCE LOGIC range - 53 kN of force, 16-300 mm². The machine completes its cycle and stops itself, making every crimp the same regardless of the operator.
Changing a die
The die drops into the head and turns - seconds, no tool. Switching cross-section happens dozens of times a day and that speed shows by the end of a shift.
Care
Keep the profiles clear of aluminium residue and dry. Aluminium picks up more than copper does, and build-up in the profile changes the cross-section of the joint. Never dress a die with a file - its geometry is what guarantees the crimp.
