What the set contains

The four PZ2 bits are no accident: this is the profile on the great majority of wood and plasterboard screws in European construction, and it wears out many times faster than any other. A set with one bit per profile runs out exactly when the PZ2 goes blunt.

S2 steel hardened to 60 HRC

The bit body is S2 steel - a tool steel chosen for its combination of hardness and toughness. The tips go through a special hardening process at temperatures up to 870 °C and reach 60 HRC.

That figure has a concrete meaning. Softer steel deforms and the tip rounds off - the bit stops seating in the recess and starts to slip. Harder than necessary is brittle and snaps under side load. 60 HRC is the band where a bit holds its geometry without breaking in normal work.

Cold forming

The tips are cold formed rather than milled. Forming presses the material into a die instead of cutting material away - the result is a more accurate profile and a densified surface structure at the tip. A more accurate profile seats more fully in the recess, which means less wear on both the bit and the screw.

The case

The set comes in a compact plastic case with an extra-large latch - a detail you appreciate opening it with gloves on or with cold hands. A window at the front lets you see the contents without opening it while keeping dust off the bits. Every bit has its own slot, so a missing one is visible at a glance.
