Milwaukee METAL TECH 150 x 20 mm, 34 teeth - a cold-cut metal blade

The blade belongs to the METAL TECH range, whose motto reads "Dry. Cool. Clean." - and all three words describe what separates it from an abrasive disc. It cuts dry, with no coolant; cool, because a carbide tooth lifts a chip rather than grinding, so the cut end can be picked up straight away; and clean, without the shower of sparks and the dust of a wearing abrasive.

What it cuts

Milwaukee lists: mild steel, steel pipe and tube, angle iron, steel channel, sheet steel up to 2.5 mm, corrugated steel sheet up to 2.5 mm, sandwich material and non-ferrous metals including aluminium and copper. Material thickness is medium metal 1.5-4 mm and thin metal 0.5-3 mm. It is not rated for rebar, and stainless steel sheet is marked as limited.

Dimensions

Diameter is 150 mm, bore 20 mm, kerf 1.6 mm. There are 34 teeth - a count chosen for metal: fewer would snag, more would clog with swarf.

Questions and Answers

How is it better than an abrasive disc?

It cuts cold and does not wear away. A carbide tooth lifts a chip instead of grinding, so the end comes off without heat, without a shower of sparks and without abrasive dust.

Does it cut aluminium?

Yes. Milwaukee explicitly lists non-ferrous metals, including aluminium and copper, among the suitable materials.

Can it cut rebar?

No. Milwaukee marks rebar as unsuitable for this blade.

What material thickness does it handle?

Medium metal 1.5-4 mm and thin metal 0.5-3 mm. Sheet up to 2.5 mm.

What is the bore?

20 mm. Check your saw's arbor before ordering.

Does it cut stainless steel?

With limitations. Milwaukee marks stainless sheet as only partly suitable - for regular stainless work choose a blade made specifically for it.
