The M9400B is a corded belt sander rated at 940 W with a belt speed of 380 m/min. It takes 100 x 610 mm belts - the wide size that removes material quickly over a large area. It weighs 6.2 kg.

What the MT range is

MT is Makita's line for everyday work - more plainly built than the main range, but from the same factory and with the same service network.

What the wide belt is for

A hundred millimetres of width means one belt covers a wide strip on every pass. On a worktop, a door or a floor that is the difference between an hour and three. In exchange the machine is heavy - its weight does part of the pressing for you, but it is not a tool for vertical surfaces overhead.

Dust extraction

A dust bag is included. A belt sander makes a great deal of wood dust and it is easily inhaled - the bag catches the bulk, and for serious work the machine connects to a vacuum.

Continuous running

There is a lock-on button that keeps the machine running without holding the trigger. Over a large area that saves the finger.

Applications

Heavy sanding of large timber surfaces - worktops, boards, doors, floors, furniture parts. Bulk stock removal, stripping old coatings and lacquers, levelling glued-up panels.

Noise and vibration

87 dB(A) sound pressure and 98 dB(A) sound power at K = 3 dB(A). Vibration is up to 2.5 m/s² at K = 1.5 - a low figure for a machine of this class.
