The M9001B is a large corded angle grinder for 230 mm discs, rated at 2000 W and 6,600 min^-1. The spindle is M14 x 2 and the weight 5.7 kg.

What the MT range is

MT is Makita's line for everyday work - more plainly built than the main range, but from the same factory and with the same service network. The machines are corded, aimed at tradespeople who want a dependable tool without electronics they will not use.

Trigger switch with safety lever

The machine starts from a trigger in the handle rather than a slide switch. Releasing the trigger stops it - with a 230 mm disc that is the preferred way to control the tool. The safety lever prevents an accidental start if the machine is picked up by the handle.

Durability

Makita cites reinforced gears for longer life and improved protection against dust and moisture for heavy conditions. The handle has a soft rubber covering, and the gear head rotates so the side handle can be moved to suit the job.

What it takes

230 mm discs with a 22.23 mm bore, a wire cup brush up to 100 mm and a sanding disc up to 180 mm. The large disc gives a cutting depth a 125 mm machine cannot reach - through a section, a brick or a concrete slab in one pass.

Applications

Cutting metal, sections, reinforcement and stainless steel; cutting concrete, stone and brick with a diamond disc; heavy grinding and dressing welds; removing rust and scale with a wire brush.

Noise

Stated figures are 90 dB(A) sound pressure and 101 dB(A) sound power at K = 3 dB(A). Hearing protection is mandatory.
