KTX Bronze are professional internal and external wood screws from Concept Distribution, size 5.0 x 90 mm, in a box of 150. What sets them apart is a nano coating salt-spray tested beyond 2000 hours.

How they differ from Gold

This is the whole distinction within the KTX range. Gold is yellow passivated and an internal screw. Bronze carries a nano coating rated C4 on the European scale, warranted for a minimum of 15 years in timber outdoors. This is the screw for decking, fencing and cladding, not for furniture.

An inert coating

The detail that matters: the coating is inert - it does not react with green oak, with treated timber, or with the acids that occur naturally in wood. Tannin in oak eats ordinary galvanised screws and leaves black staining around every head after the first winter. With Bronze that does not happen.

The colour

The bronze tone is not decoration - it blends into timber so the heads do not stand out on a board. On visible outdoor work that is the difference between a fixing you see and one you do not.

The 5.0 x 90 mm size

90 mm is a structural length. The rule is two thirds of the length into the lower member - at 90 mm that means a top piece of about 30 mm: a deck board onto joists, or a fence board onto a rail.

The bit is in the box

Every KTX box and tub comes with a 50 mm KTX bit at no charge. For M5.0 that is the KTX No.2. The recess is deep and grips the bit, so the screw hangs on the driver - a convenience felt most keenly outdoors, up a ladder, with one hand free.

Driving speed

Concept states that KTX drives in less than half the time of an ordinary wood screw. The reason is the combination of a very sharp start point, a coarse helically cut thread and a lubricated coating. Over 150 screws that difference is measured in hours, not minutes.
