The two lengths are not the same thing

Read the figures like this: 310 mm is the whole bit, 250 mm is the flute - how deep it can actually drill. The 60 mm difference is the SDS-plus shank sitting in the chuck. Choose depth by the working length, never the overall - that is the commonest reason a bit turns out too short.

The SDS-plus shank

SDS-plus is the standard for light and medium rotary hammers - a shank with two closed and two open grooves. The bit pushes into the chuck and locks itself, no key. This shank does not fit an ordinary drill; that needs a round-shank bit.

Hawera and Bosch

Hawera is DREBO's accessory brand, distributed across Europe through Bosch's channels - which is why the EANs begin 3165140. The power LX plus range is the middle class: tougher than the basic line, without the price of four-cutter rebar bits.

What it is and is not for

It works in concrete, brick, stone and block. It is not for rebar - a two-cutter bit dulls or jams on steel, and that job wants four-cutter geometry. Nor for tile: the hammer action cracks the glaze.

Making it last

Withdraw the bit several times while drilling so the dust escapes - dust packed between flute and wall is what overheats the tip. Work without leaning on it: the hammer does the striking, you only steer. Heavy pressure does not speed the hole, it wears the carbide.
