DRABEST HOME Aluminium Step Ladder, 3+1 steps, 125 kg, 2.9 kg - 03090031

DRABEST HOME Aluminium Step Ladder, 3+1 steps, 125 kg

This is a single-sided DRABEST aluminium household step ladder from the HOME line - three steps and a platform on top, with a grab handle. The ladder for the household job that comes up twice a month and always urgently: a light bulb, a curtain, a top cupboard, a box in the hallway. Exactly the work people otherwise climb a chair for - and exactly the work that sends somebody to the emergency room every year.

2.9 kg - the figure that decides whether it gets used at all

The ladder weighs 2.90 kg. That is barely more than a kilo and a half over an ordinary chair, and it means the thing is lifted with one hand, carried from room to room and tucked behind a door without it being an undertaking. A household ladder that weighs eight kilos lives in the cellar and never gets used - which is why weight here matters more than any other figure.

Heights

The platform sits at 75 cm, steps are 23 cm apart, and reach extends to 2.75 m - enough for the ceiling of a standard flat, a light fitting and the top shelf of a wardrobe. The platform measures 25 x 26 cm, so you stand on it with both feet rather than balancing on one.

What makes it safe

The steps are 8 cm wide with non-slip treads - 8 cm is the difference between a step the foot rests on and a narrow bar you feel under the arch. The feet have plastic caps that hold on a smooth floor and do not scratch parquet. The rating is 125 kg - the person together with whatever they carry up.

A hook for a bucket or tool

There is a hook at the top for a paint tin, a bag of fixings or a work light. A small detail, but it removes the commonest cause of falls from a household ladder - climbing up and down with your hands full.

Origin

DRABEST is a Polish manufacturer of aluminium ladders and scaffolding with its own production. The HOME series is the brand's household line, distinct from its professional ranges in load rating and in price.
