Fleece as a mid layer

A garment like this works in two roles. On its own it is enough in cool but dry weather. Its real value, though, is as a mid layer under a work jacket: fleece traps warmth in its own structure while letting moisture pass outwards instead of holding it against the skin. That is why fleece rather than a cotton sweatshirt - cotton absorbs sweat and then chills you, which outdoors is dangerous rather than merely unpleasant.

Reverse quarter zip and high collar

The zip is quarter length and reversed. Its role is not decorative: opening it a few centimetres regulates ventilation with the workload, without taking the garment off. 4-way stretch

The fabric stretches in four directions. In workwear that is the difference between a garment that gets in the way and one you do not notice: reaching up, bending over, working with your hands above your head - each pulls the fabric along a different axis. A one-way stretch fabric resists one of them.

Flatlock seams

The seams are flatlock - flat, with no raised ridge on the inside. On a garment worn against the skin or under a jacket, a bulky seam presses and chafes exactly where a bag strap or a tool belt crosses the shoulder. A flat seam removes that. The logo is applied by heat transfer rather than embroidered - the print adds no thickness inside.

Grey

Grey is a practical choice: it goes with any workwear, it does not contrast with dust and concrete marks the way black does, and it is not a high-visibility colour - which means the garment does not replace hi-vis clothing where that is required.

The size
