The DeWalt DCE560N is a cordless gun for applying silicone, adhesives and sealants from standard 310 ml cartridges. It runs on the 18 V XR platform and ships without battery or charger. Dispensing force is 2500 N - around 254 kg - which covers thick construction adhesives, not just soft sealants.

Why cordless rather than manual

On a manual gun the force comes from your wrist and the flow depends on how evenly you squeeze. Over a long session - sealing windows, bonding trim, sealing panels - the hand tires and the bead becomes uneven. Here the motor holds a constant pressure, so the bead comes out at the same thickness from the start of the cartridge to the end.

Flow control

Dosing is controlled at two levels: a dial that presets maximum speed and a variable-speed trigger for fine correction on the move. Plunger speed adjusts across 51 - 533 mm/min - slow for precise thin beads, fast for laying large quantities quickly.

Anti-drip

When the trigger is released the plunger retracts automatically and releases the pressure in the cartridge. That stops dripping between beads - the main source of mess and wasted material when working with adhesives. The dispenser rotates through 360°, letting the cartridge be aimed at a convenient angle without twisting the wrist.

Who it is for

The tool is aimed at window and glazing installers, drylining and insulation specialists, sanitary and plumbing crews, and vehicle and marine workshops where sealant is applied by the square metre. At that volume the difference from a manual gun is not comfort but bead quality and the amount of material that does not end up on a rag.

Light and dimensions

A built-in LED lights the application area - useful in corners, under trim and in unlit rooms. The tool is 495 mm long, 305 mm high and weighs 1.8 - 2.2 kg depending on the battery fitted.

Questions and Answers

Are a battery and charger included?

No. The "N" at the end of the model denotes a tool-only delivery. It runs on any battery from the DeWalt 18 V XR platform. For a tool like this a small-capacity pack is perfectly adequate, since current draw is low.

What cartridges does it take?

Standard 310 ml cartridges - the most common size for silicones, acrylics and construction adhesives. Sausage packs and 600 ml cartridges need different carriers or a different model in the range.

Does it handle thick adhesives?

Yes. Dispensing force is 2500 N, around 254 kg, which is enough for thick construction and polyurethane adhesives rather than just soft sanitary silicones. With very stiff material it is worth working at lower speed so the cartridge does not split.

How is dripping avoided?

The plunger retracts automatically when the trigger is released and takes the pressure off the cartridge. The material stops immediately instead of continuing to run for several seconds. That is the main difference in cleanliness compared with a manual gun.

Can the bead thickness be adjusted?

Yes, in two ways. The dial sets maximum plunger speed across 51 - 533 mm/min, and the variable-speed trigger allows correction on the move. Together they give a repeatable bead of even thickness along its whole length.

What is the rotating dispenser for?

The cartridge holder rotates through 360°, so the angled nozzle can be aimed as needed without twisting the wrist. Working in corners, around frames and overhead, that noticeably changes comfort during sustained application.

Is it worth it over a manual gun?

It depends on volume. For a few cartridges a year a manual gun does the job. With daily application - window fitters, drylining, insulation - the difference lies in bead quality, speed and hand fatigue, and the material saved from not dripping adds up as well.
