DeWALT DCN680N - 18GA finishing nailer with no compressor and no gas

The DCN680 drives nails with no compressor, no hose and no fuel cell. The mechanism is entirely mechanical - the brushless motor compresses an internal spring which then releases the blow. That gives two practical differences: no running cost in gas cells, and the tool is ready for the first shot immediately, with no warm-up.

18 gauge brads

The nailer takes 18 gauge brads - thin finishing nails whose head is barely visible once driven. This is the class for second fix work: skirting, beading, cladding, frames, boxes. Structural fixing calls for a heavier nail and a different tool.

The magazine is straight, at 0°, and holds 110 nails. A straight magazine is bulkier than an angled one, but the nails in it are straight rather than canted, which makes driving more predictable in finishing work.

Bare tool

The N suffix means bare tool - no battery and no charger. It belongs to the 18V XR system and runs on any pack from the platform.
