GA5100 is a mains angle grinder for 125 mm discs, rated 850 W and with variable speed. It belongs to the class of machine that gets used every day - light enough to hold one-handed while grinding, and strong enough to cut section and rebar.

Variable speed is not a gimmick

Speed is set from 2800 to 11000 min^-1. The top end is for cutting; the bottom end is for wire brushing, for flap discs on stainless steel and for polishing, where high speed overheats and discolours the material. A machine without speed control runs flat out all the time and on those jobs burns both the disc and the surface.

Restart protection

If the power fails or the lead is pulled while the trigger is held in, the machine does not start by itself when supply returns. On a 125 mm grinder that is no small detail - a tool left on the ground with its trigger locked will start and spin.

What it cuts and grinds

Maximum cutting depth is 33 mm. The spindle is M14 and the disc bore 22.23 mm, so the machine takes every standard 125 mm disc: cutting, grinding, flap and diamond. The lead is 2.5 metres, which on site often saves an extension.

Weight and size

Without the lead the machine weighs between 2.2 and 3.2 kg depending on how it is equipped, at 298 mm long. Vibration in surface grinding is 2.9 m/s² - the figure that governs how long it can be used continuously in a day.
