The Bosch 1600A039T9 is a slotted screwdriver with an SL 1.2 x 6.5 profile and a 125 mm shank. Overall length is 235 mm, the shank is 6 mm in diameter and the blade is 1.2 mm thick. The shaft is chrome-vanadium steel and the tool weighs 0.094 kg.

How the shaft is built

Chrome-vanadium steel is what lets a screwdriver take twisting instead of the tip deforming on the first tight screw. Bosch states that the tool withstands torque up to 20% above the requirement of the ISO 2380 standard, which sets the dimensions and strength figures for slotted screwdrivers. The tip profile is SL 1.2 x 6.5 mm - 6.5 mm wide and 1.2 mm thick - which is the size for a medium to large slotted screw.

Handle

The handle is multi-component and 34 mm in diameter - thick enough to be gripped with the whole palm and to transfer torque without hurting the fingers. The front of the handle is hexagonal: it stops the screwdriver rolling off a sloping surface and allows extra turning force with a spanner on a particularly tight screw. The end carries colour coding and type and size markings, so the right driver is found in the bag by eye rather than by trial. The handle also has a tether hole for work at height.

Applications

Driving and removing slotted screws in electrical installation, maintenance, fitting hardware, assembling structures and general repair. The long 125 mm shank reaches a recessed screw without changing tools.
