Bosch PRO Billet Torpedo Level 1600A03AA9, 200 mm

The Bosch PRO 1600A03AA9 is a compact torpedo level, 200 mm long and weighing 0.230 kg. The body is machined from billet aluminium rather than drawn as a profile, which is where the range name comes from. Billet aluminium with a milled face

The body is made from forged billet aluminium with a milled bearing surface. The solid material takes knocks and the pressure of being clamped against steel sections, and the milled base sits flat on a flat surface instead of resting on two edges. The end caps are impact-resistant and protect the ends in a waist-height drop.

Magnets, V-groove and weld bridge

Three strong magnets are set into the base, holding the level on a steel beam, section or pipe and freeing both hands. The base itself carries a V-groove that centres the level on round pipe, and a bridge groove that lets it sit steadily across a weld seam instead of rocking on it. That combination is what makes a torpedo level the pipefitter's, the HVAC engineer's and the welder's tool.

Reading in tight spaces

The vials read from the front and from both sides of the body, and the liquid in them is UV-resistant, so it does not lose contrast over time. At 200 mm long and 40 mm high the level fits between two sections, into a duct or behind a radiator, where a metre level simply cannot be placed.
