The L-shaped build

The motor sits vertically to the axis of the blow - hence the characteristic L shape. The practical difference shows in work on a wall: with an in-line machine the operator carries the whole weight at arm's length, whereas the L shape brings it closer to the body. On a floor it works the other way round - the weight of the machine does part of the job.

Blow and adjustment

16.8 J at 1,890 blows per minute is the class for opening penetrations, taking down partition walls, cutting large pipes and stripping render. The selector wheel has six settings - a lower one for brittle material, so it does not split further than intended, and full power for reinforced concrete.

Vario-lock

The chisel turns and locks in 12 positions. That matters in tight spots - instead of rotating the whole machine, only the chisel turns until the edge sits at the right angle to the joint.

Vibration and grip

The handle is vibration-damped, and the measured figure for chiselling concrete is 17.9 m/s². The auxiliary handle rotates through 360 degrees and locks wherever the application suits. The slide switch locks on, so nobody holds a trigger down all day.

Servicing

The machine carries a service indicator that lights when the carbon brushes need replacing. That is no small detail - changed on time the brushes cost little, whereas a burnt commutator means an armature repair.
