Bosch GNF 35 CA Professional is a mains wall chaser with a 1400 W motor and two 150 mm diamond discs. It cuts chases 0-35 mm deep and 3-39 mm wide. Article number 0601621708.

Why a chaser rather than an angle grinder

Chases for cable and pipe are most often cut with an angle grinder - two passes side by side, then a breaker. That fails in three ways: the width is not accurate, the depth wanders, and the dust goes all over the floor. The chaser settles all three at once - both discs run together at a set spacing, the depth locks on a scale, and the housing is closed and collects the dust.

Depth and width

Depth adjusts steplessly from 0 to 35 mm, and the spacing between the discs from 3 to 39 mm. Width is set with the spacer washers supplied: three of 4 mm and four of 6 mm. Combining them gives exactly the width of the pipe or conduit that has to sit in the chase.

Dust

The machine works with Bosch Click & Clean - the extractor hose clicks straight onto the port. Cutting concrete and brick, that is not a convenience but a condition of working: silica dust is harmful, and without extraction visibility drops to nothing after the first metre.

Motor and electronics

1400 W in and 820 W out at 9,300 rpm. Constant electronics hold the speed under load, a soft start keeps the machine from snatching on start-up, and a spindle lock makes disc changes straightforward.

Weight and noise

4.7 kg - relatively light for the 1400 W class. Sound pressure is 102 dB(A) and sound power 113 dB(A), which makes ear defenders compulsory.

What is in the box

A carry case, the breaking-out tool for the ridge left between the two cuts, three 4 mm spacer washers, four of 6 mm, a round nut, a back flange and a bent two-pin wrench. Diamond discs are not included.
