The carbide tip

The difference from an ordinary chisel is exactly at the tip. On a standard tool the point is hardened steel - concrete blunts it, and after an hour's work it starts bouncing instead of biting. Here the tip is carbide (Bosch Carbide Technology) - the material that stands up to constant heavy impact. According to the manufacturer that gives up to 2.5 times the life of a standard Bosch SDS plus pointed chisel.

Self-sharpening

The geometry is chosen so the tip wears evenly and keeps its shape. That matters in practice, because a blunt chisel does not merely work slower - it sends the impact back into the machine and into your hands. A self-sharpening tip stays effective through its whole life, with no trips to the grinder in between.

What a pointed chisel is for

A pointed chisel concentrates the whole impact into a single point. That makes it the tool for starting a demolition - cracking a concrete slab, punching through masonry, breaking up screed. Once the crack has started, you switch to a flat chisel, which widens what is already begun. A point on an intact flat surface is far more effective than a flat chisel; a flat chisel in an existing crack is far more effective than a point.

Compatibility

The shank is SDS plus and fits every rotary hammer with an SDS plus chuck, whatever the brand. For chiselling, set the machine to hammer only, with rotation off.
