DeWALT DCD803NT Cordless Drill Driver, 18 V XR, with Four Interchangeable Heads

DCD803NT is not another compact drill driver - it is a machine with four heads that change without tools. The body is short and light, and the front comes off so that whatever the job needs goes on instead: a chuck, a flat bit holder, an offset head for working against a wall, or a right-angle head for places an ordinary driver simply will not enter. It is supplied without battery or charger, in a T STAK case.

The four heads

The first is a 13 mm all-metal keyless chuck with automatic spindle lock - tightened one-handed. The second is a 1/4" hex holder with a deliberately flat profile for driving in tight spaces. The third is an offset head, where the bit sits away from the axis so a screw a centimetre from the wall is still reachable. The fourth is a 90° right-angle head - for between joists, behind a pipe, inside a cabinet. The heads also join to one another, which widens the range further.

Mechanics and electronics

The gearbox is two-speed and all metal. The clutch has 15 settings with reliable shut-off, so a light screw in soft material does not get driven through. Maximum speed is 1650 min^-1. The electronics watch battery temperature, current draw and state of discharge - protection that matters over a long working day. The LED is placed to light the hole rather than your hand.

What has to be bought separately

There is no battery and no charger in the box. The machine runs on any DeWALT 18 V XR or XR FLEXVOLT pack, so if you already own tools on the platform this is the cheapest way to add a driver. Starting from nothing, this machine needs at least one battery and a charger alongside it.
