The Werner 79023 Adjustable PRO is an aluminium work platform adjustable from 0.51 to 0.76 m across 10 positions. It is the tool for the work that falls between a stool and a ladder: plasterboard, suspended ceilings, painting walls and cornices, electrical installation - work where you stand for hours and move constantly, and where a ladder is both too high and too unsteady to stand on one foot.

Why a platform rather than a ladder

The difference is the standing surface: 1,160 x 350 mm against a single rung. On that area you stand with both feet, turn around, set down a bucket and a tool, and work with both hands. Working height comes out at 2.26-2.51 m (based on an average 1.75 m reach), which covers a standard ceiling with room to spare.

One-handed adjustment

Height changes with one hand and without tools - the lock is built into the mechanism. More importantly, the legs on each side adjust independently: the platform stands on a staircase and stays level. A staircase is exactly where work at height most often ends up crooked and dangerous, and it is the reason this model costs more than a plain trestle.

Details that show in use

The standing surface is textured and slip-resistant. The feet carry non-marring rubber caps - they leave no black marks on a finished floor, laminate or tiles, which in a completed interior saves either a clean-up or a complaint. The frame and legs have protective non-slip bumpers, so the platform does not scuff the wall or the banister in a stairwell.
