Why it is needed

Standing on a round rung loads the sole of the foot along a narrow strip, which becomes uncomfortable to the point of pain over a longer job. The step turns that strip into a 250 by 250 mm platform - the whole foot rests on it. The upper surface is treadplate (see the photo), which reduces slipping when working in dust or with damp soles.

How it attaches
